One of my favorite seasons to shoot in Billings is easily Spring. The trees are finally turning green again, beautiful flowers are blossoming throughout the city, and the wedding season starts to pick up.
This specific wedding occurred in a magical hidden wonderland on the south side of town, DanWalt Gardens. I have always loved this venue because it adds a certain beauty to every picture you won't find in other parts of town. Continually blooming flower arrangements, and vibrant greenery highlight the magic of any wedding day. Such a beautifully lush location is always welcome from a photographic point of view.
a personal favorite detail at DanWalt Gardens
One of my favorite things at the DanWalt Gardens may come as a bit of a surprise. It’s not the hundreds of flowers and beautiful walkways, but the half-dozen or so free-range chickens that cluck their way through the gardens. Unlike most farm chickens, these guys are absolutely gorgeous, quiet, they have individual and clever names, and are super friendly without being bothersome.
The DanWalt venue recognizes that the weather in Billings is more complex than the morning news makes it sound. Thankfully, they provide a covered reception area that effortlessly seats 170 guests—allowing the special moment to be easily adaptable to the city’s unpredictable conditions.
One thing I love about every booking is photographing the bride’s moments before she walks down the aisle. There’s beautiful empowerment in watching as friends and family come together to laugh and ease the anxiety of a bride living in her surreal moment. It also adds a specific emphasis on the enchantment of the whole ceremony. Watching as every piece slowly comes together up to “I do.”
When all’s said and done, DanWalt Gardens is a great option for your spring or summer weddings in the Billings area. Providing a beautiful backdrop, and easy adaptability, creates an environment that focuses on couples and the photography making your garden wedding dreams a reality.
