Camelot Ranch Wedding Photos / Billings Montana Photographer / Kyle + Jessica

As a wedding photojournalist, it's my job to capture not just the events of the day, but also the emotions and personalities of my clients and their families. Kids are so honest and upfront with their emotions, they let it all show when in front of the camera. That makes it easy to capture beautiful, candid photos that reflect who they are, and I believe that's why it's so much fun!

Their spontaneity often leads to some great candid moments, adding layers of emotional depth to your gallery.

When it comes to kids at weddings, I've had the honor of capturing everything from flower girls and ring bearers walking down the aisle, to little ones dancing the night away on the dance floor. While these are certainly some of the traditional "wedding moments" that I've had the pleasure of photographing, I've also found that kids can bring an element of spontaneity and joy to the day that can make even the most posed photos feel authentic and genuine.

What about couples who already have kids??

The weddings of the many couples whose children I've had the honor of photographing are particularly touching. For couples who have children, the unification of a whole family is celebrated on their wedding day in addition to their love for one another.

I've seen poems, solo songs, family bands jamming with the kids, sand ceremonies, unique gifts, extra wedding rings, a 6-year-old best man who took his duty very seriously. We ALWAYS make sure to incorporate them in as many pictures as we can. Whatever the occasion, they are usually delighted to take part in the celebrations when their parents tie the knot or add their names to the list.

Capturing the love and joy between parents and kids together, on the wedding day, is a true honor. It is critically important to not just show who is in the family on the wedding day but also who each person in the family IS. Kids have a special way to help us let that out and show our true selves.

Overall, photographing kids at weddings is a joy and a privilege. It's a reminder of the purity and beauty of childhood, and the importance of family. When I photograph young kids, I am reminded of the importance of living in the moment and finding awe in the little and big things in life.

Whether you're a couple just starting your journey together, or a family celebrating a union, I believe that having kids at your weddings will help bring fun and laughter to your wedding day.

On the other hand, if having a bunch of kids running around doesn’t set the mood you are looking for, “adult-only” weddings have a vibe all of their own.

As a wedding photojournalist, I have made it my duty to capture the love and joy of not just my clients, but also their families. It is my number one goal to document all those candid moments to help preserve the memories for a lifetime.
