What an awesome Billings engagement session!!!
The first time John and Natalie met was on the boat float down the Yellowstone river and it’s still one of their happy places with many fond memories. So, naturally we had to incorporate the river into their engagement photos.
I mean what is more “Montana” than the mighty Yellowstone??
We started our engagement session at River Front Park, just south of Billings. It’s right next to the river and convenient to get to. A quick walk provides plenty of awesome photo opportunities.
Why do an Engagement session?
One good reason is because it will help calm any nerves you have about being in front of a camera.
It’s totally normal to be least a little unconformable having your photo taken and most of my clients are.
An added and often overlooked benefit of an engagement session is that we get to go over and practice the systems for posing and communication we will use during during your wedding.
The system is seriously so quick and simple. It only takes a few minuets to cover and is even faster in bullet points, let’s go over it now.
There are only 4 basic poses, all other poses are just some variant.
We cover the different goals of posing for men & women and how to achieve them.
After that we put you into a picturesque location with good light and encourage you talk about your relationship with each other.
It’s seriously that easy!
My wife calls them a “Couples Enrichment Experience” because of how the questions make you think about the other person helping you forget about the camera to focus on each other.
We wanted a more dramatic look for this Yellowstone engagement session so we went up to Four Dancers Park and got an entirely different view of the river where we hung out until sunset.
The weather for this session was also perfect, it started with overcast skies and nice soft light and as we went up we got beautiful dramatic light and a stunning sunset!
John & Natalie are so in love and will be getting married this summer in Bozeman.
